Start on Sound - In this mode the runner begins to run and the Sonic Timer starts timing the instant a loud sound (such as shouting "GO!" or blowing a whistle) is picked up by the built in microphone. The Sonic Timer is intelligent enough to compensate for the time it takes the sound to travel from the source to the runner.
Start on Light - In this mode the runner begins to run and the Sonic Timer starts timing the moment a pulse of light is emitted by the computer.
Start on Movement - In this mode the Sonic Timer begins to time the runner when his/her hand or foot has been lifted from the switch pad at the starting position. When the runner passes a Sonic beam the timing will stop.
